CorkRubber for Diesel Engine Applications

A pressure-induced explosion in the combustion chamber generates the power of a diesel engine. This ignition process requires a strong structural engine design to develop the power requirements demanded by today's diesel engine market.

These robust engines, operating in harsh longterm durability, create unique challenges for the sealing specialist. The entire system with its high flange loads, aggressive fluids and dynamic movement, requires gaskets formulated and designed for this environment.

At Amorim Industrial Solutions, that material is CorkRubber.

CorkRubber Material Development

Amorim Industrial Solutions team of engineers developed CorkRubber material focusing on properties needed for diesel engine sealing. Through material compounding and production processing they met the fluid resistance and temperature requirements. They improved the tensile and compressibility of the CorkRubber material addressing the engines dynamic movement introduced by the combustion process.

Final material acceptance is dependant on its success in Amorim Industrial Solutions application functional tests. Our tests were designed to predict longterm field performance in much shorter time. Using the Perkins TD69 test procedure, our materials are subjected to the customers duty cycle. The actual thermal changes, vibrations and cyclic pressures from the applications are programmed into our tests.
