* Wide range of fluid compatibility (high chemical resistance over long periods)
* Compressible with negligible lateral flow (low Poisson's ratio by comparison to solid elastomers)
* Reduces levels of transmitted vibration (acoustic insulation)
* Excellent conformity with surfaces to be sealed
* High resistance to compressive loads over long periods
* Anti-slip and impact-resistant (shock absorber)
* High resistance to abrasion
* Provides excellent environmental sealing (ozone-resistance)
Cork has always played an important role in our lives. It seals
the wine we drink and the powertrains of the cars we drive. It insulates us
from noisy neighbours. It aids in bridge construction through the
insulation of various structural members from vibration. Cork even provides the
thermal insulation for the electronics around the booster rocket engines that
power the Space Shuttle.
For those industries already using CorkRubber (RubberCork / Rubber Cork), the outlook is
very positive: they have yet to reach full maturity and surely will continue to
grow as new applications are "discovered". For industries where CorkRubber or RubberCork / Rubber Cork is
not used, the future will depend on our commitment to innovation, research and
engineering.
